Anyone who knows me knows that I am a bit of a clean freak. I know I have a problem and knowing is the first step to recovery right? People who also know me also know I have a bit of a dry sense of humor, so I couldn’t resist on the recovery comment. I write blogs on things that I see and hear in my day to day life as a realtor in Red Deer and all Central Alberta. People who also know me know that I like social media. My favorite is Twitter. Twitter allows everyone to have a voice. I follow lots of local people and businesses, I do not agree with all that is said but we all have a voice which brings me to the title of this post. Clean your house is my response to a tweet from a local person I follow. His tweet went along the lines of why do we need to clean our homes when we are trying to sell them? I thought about this for awhile and here is my answer.
You want to keep your home clean when you are trying to sell it for the simple fact your home looks better clean than dirty. A dirty home does not looked loved, it does not show as well and will not be as attractive to potential buyers as a clean home. When I am showing houses to prospective buyers most people are influenced by the state of the house. Clean, well organized and fresh smelling is easier to promote than messy. Sorry but its true.
We all live in our homes, sometimes our homes get that ‘lived in’ feel and look. Thats fine for you. A prospective buyer already has that home, they want to be oooed and awwwwed by their next home. The people who come through your home in hopes of buying it want to walk in and have what I call the WOW factor. Dirty dishes do not give you that.
So if you are trying to sell your home, keep it as clean as possible. If you are thinking of selling give me a call and I will help you get moving.
