Fire Blog #3 – Red Deer Homes

I have had a lot of feedback from my recent blog posts regarding the fires in Sunnybrook last week. I have not had any experience with the following company but was wondering if anyone has any opinions or experience themselves.

The product/company is Pink Wood and from their website they say –

“PinkShield™ coated products resist the growth of mold and rot fungus while providing added fire protection to your home through the use of integrated fire retardants.”

“Fire protection is one of the largest issues facing the building industry today. PinkShield addresses the issue, as it contains specialized fire retardants designed to reduce the chance of fire starting and slows the burn if a fire does start”

Visit their website and let me know your thoughts

We have used pinkwood in the past along with some other fire resistant claddings. This is a good measure to slow the spread of fire. There is a cost, and unfortunately does not help homes that are already built. Existing homes can be retrofitted with sprinklers if the client has a desire to add some protection from fire.
